"Lamp prohibition" now due to the Single Lighting Regulation.

Which lamps shall stay?

The ecodesign regulation 'Single Lighting Regulation (SLR)' was published in December 2019. In order to realise the energy-saving targets, further lamp types that can no longer achieve the minimum efficiency limits will be virtually banned from the European market from 01.09.2021: They may no longer bear the CE mark and therefore may no longer be manufactured or imported into the EU.

Since September 1st 2021, this already applies to

  • Low-voltage halogen lamps with reflector
  • R7s high-voltage double ended halogen lamps (>2700lm)
  • Compact fluorescent lamps with integrated ballast

From September 2023, these lamps will follow in the second step:

  • T8 fluorescent tubes with 26mm diameter (600mm, 1200mm, 1500mm)
  • High-voltage halogen lamps with G9 base
  • Low-voltage halogen lamps with G4 and GY6.35 bases

Individual exceptions are, for example, T8 special lamps in special lengths (30W, 36W in 1,000mm length and 38W) and R7s halogen lamps ≥750W.

The following traditional light sources are still permitted:
  • Compact fluorescent lamps without integrated ballast (CFLni)
  • R7s high-voltage double ended halogen lamps (≤2700lm)
  • T5 fluorescent tubes
  • Circular T9 fluorescent lamps
  • High-pressure discharge lamps (HID)

Detailed information about the regulation and its effects can be found here.
