Which beam angle for LED Spot GU10?

Professional LED lamps for any application.

Beam angle LED Spot GU10

The popular PAR16 halogen spot, which could simply be operated at 230V mains supply, leaves its LED successor many GU10 light points. Due to a wide range of light colours and brightness variants, with or without dimming function, LED PAR16 lamps are more varied than almost any other lamp family. Thanks to their retrofit design, they look similar to their halogen predecessor.

LED reflector lamps are popular for recessed ceiling mounting as well as in open fixtures, and due to their various designs, they are suitable for lighting smaller areas of a room as well as larger surfaces. Their different beam angles will fit lots of various lighting situations.

The beam angle is a measure for how wide the light is distributed. If the angle is large, the light cone is wide and the luminous intensity on the performance surface is lower because the light is less focused. If, on the other hand, the beam angle is small, the light cone is small and the luminous intensity greater. The amount of light is finally focused to a smaller area.

To find the right spot lamp for your application, you should keep in mind that the diameter of the light cone and the luminous intensity depend on the distance between the light source and the lit-up surface. For example, the light cone of a 60° ceiling spot lamp has a noticeably larger diameter on the floor from a ceiling height of three meters than from a ceiling height of two meters.

For orientation, it can be said: For basic lighting, typically a beam angle of 60 to 120° is used, i.e. lamps with a wide light cone. Radium uses the description "VWFL" for "very wide flood" here. A beam angle of 36° is often used for staging objects or smaller areas in a room. In our article description it is called "WFL" for "wide flood". In addition to the common 36° and 120° angles, Radium now also offers LED PAR16 lamps with 60° beam angle, which light up partial areas wonderfully homogeneously.

Please, take a look at our web catalog and find the lamp fitting for you.
