International Day of Light

Did you know? Since 2018, International Day of Light has been celebrated annually on May 16, initiated by UNESCO to raise awareness of how light enriches science, medicine, communication, entertainment, culture and many other fields with its many functions. May 16 corresponds to the day when engineer and physicist Theodore H. Maiman first successfully used a laser in Malibu in 1960.
