One of the most famous and biggest football stadia of the world, the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, relies upon the oldest active German lamp manufacturer.
The largest stadium of Brazil has been equipped with more than 400 Radium lamps. There, the lamp type HRI-TS 2000W/D/S HF is in applicatication, which is - Radium internally - also called 'Samba lamp' because of its yellow base.
Due to its enormous luminous flux of 230 000lm and its excellent colour quality the colours of Brazil can shine in a new light to everyone in the world. Further, the lamp comes with a high luminous efficacy of 112lm/W and a very long service life.
This stadium has been modernised since the statement that the football worldcup will take place there. Since May 2013, the modernised stadium has been tested with 50% visitors capacity. With the match Brazil versus England at June 2nd 2013, the stadium has been opened officially with full attendance.
